Soup and Salad

Squeezing melons, shaking in line
Telling myself I’ve got the time
I’m okay, I’m okay, yeah that’s a lie
He stands out there holding his sign

Soup and Salad, no meat on his bones
Soup and Salad, lost the way home

He’s the father, he’s the brother
He’s the lover that made another
He’s the sun, he lit the spark
Until the dose it all went dark

*I saw him outside the grocery store with his sign, rail thin like my brother, with wild red hair like an old boyfriend with an amazing smile.
