A Pinecone Gave In To Gravity At 3:25 AM

A pinecone gave in to gravity at 3:25 a.m.,
The wind serenades the leaves,
Hip-hop affirmations grant my reprieve,
A baited video claims
Someone told you about me,
But how could they
When I keep so much bound and buried,
Because they won’t understand,
Because admission is taboo,
Even when they crave it, too,
How brutal it is
When limerence sings as
The purest song for another,
A parent’s love for their child is never questioned,
But all other forms are to be labeled and judged
By masked outsiders, sitting high,
With muddy soles, and bloodied nails,
So I say
I had an unconditional soft spot for you,
Just because, as is,
It didn’t have to be earned,
It was a soothing I naturally and easily held,
Maybe immediately, maybe not,
But it didn’t take long
To discover the draw,
Gimme, mine, now,
That home would be
Me wrapped around you,
So many moments,
Through the triggers and all,
Don’t make it weird,
I can do that on my own,
Just say
Good morning,
Because what else
Am I supposed to do,
Until I untangle from
This mistaken vision of you.
