You Didn’t Ask

You didn’t ask, but

I had hard days too,
While checking on you,

I requested clarity, and
The crickets kept biting,

They gnashed and gnawed into my bedrock,
Another scar in the historical records,

I crashed and reshaped,
I’ll never be the same,

I’ll never see you the same,
I’ll never see anyone the same.

You didn’t ask.
You didn’t feel.
You didn’t have time.

What else could I say?
What else could I do?

I would have said yes,
I would have made time, but

You didn’t ask.
